They also have a hunger bar, so time between eating takes a while. Never once did I see another 2* boar in the area. I'd say about a month, maybe two, later - real time, not game time - I happened across a 2* in the wild near my base. I ran at it intent on aggroing it into chasing me back to my base but as I approached it, I found that it was the one that had escaped.
